What do you know, I hate money too! I should have you over for some water and saltine crackers some time.

    Michael-Flaherty responds:

    Oh that'd be just splendid!

I was hooked from the start. Juicy synths and groovy (albeit a tad simplistic) beat. Nice work.

    TheyCallMeCaudex responds:

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

Catchy, although the neener-neener is annoying. Clever challenge and a very unique take on it. Well done.

    TheyCallMeCaudex responds:

    Thanks!

Ok, let me just say that I really really like this song. It's a nice combination of various instruments and styles, with good writing and engaging flow.

That said, I think you're doing the dubstep thing wrong. You need to use triplets in addition to duplets and quarters. It sounds like you sampled a 'wub' and then sequenced it rather than using a synth with a tempo-synced oscillating gate. I'm no expert on dubstep production values, so I might be way off, but I think it would be a major improvement to divide the beats into fours and threes instead of fours and twos as it is currently.

Nice job! Never stop writing music.

    TheyCallMeCaudex responds:

I'm glad you liked the song, and your right, in a sense, because this isn't really traditional dubstep. It's my take on it's sound and therefore a more personal stylized version then anything else. as is most of my music. I usually make techno-ey dubstep-ish trance-like music but I don't usually go specifically for the traditional sound. As a result, some of my music works, but some of it really doesn't. This song in particular I was trying to mesh several different genres and sounds. I think it works but I am totally open to criticism, in fact, I love it.

And I will never stop making music.

Yes, oh yes. Dorian, medieval theme, this is an instant favorite. The instrumentation is fantastic as well. I want to hear the whole thing as soon as possible!

    Phyrnna responds:

Yes, someone who knows what Dorian mode is! <3

I tell myself that every year. Don't be hard on yourself; it only means you're getting better.

    lantaren responds:

thanks, that kinda means a lot to me ^-^ thanks. oh, and I see that you name is http404error... you were drawn to this song since the song title looks like internet, weren't you xD well, I don't blame you. originally it was going to be eternity, then turned into eternit, then to internit. although internet wouldn't be a bad name... nor would connection, gateway, or any other tech term.

I want it. Where can I buy it?

    Tysuru responds:

www.reverbnation.com/thecolorgreen ! :) You should be able to download this song for free for a lil bit longer as well.

This is very good. There was one moment of dissonance in the organ that I couldn't stand, since it didn't follow the typical tension-resolution form-it was just there.
I can't wait to hear the rest of the track!

    Phyrnna responds:

It was intended that way. :P

    I feel cheated...

    Not Minecraft? Darn.

Oh well, it sounds marvelous anyways. The intonations and velocities are beyond my skill to replicate, and this makes wonderful menu music, so give yourself a pat on the back.

    hellotroy responds:

Sorry no Minecraft, I don't actually play it and forgot there were "creepers" in that game. =)

At any rate, thanks for the positive feedback! Looks like that college education finally came in handy. I wasn't writing for a few years after school (tried an IT gig), but I've finally come back to doing sound design and music full on.

For doing really fine detail midi/velocity work, Ableton is incredibly versatile. Hit me up if you decide to take a look at it. It changed my whole workflow for the better.

    Thanks again!

    Successful indeed

This really jives with me. I haven't heard the original, but regardless, this is definitely worthy of recognition.

It's just a short loop, but I found the music quite interesting, tried to rebuild it as a full...thing..

Whoever looped that though did a good job, I can sometimes just have a tab open on that page and have that playing for ages.

thanks for the kind words though :D

Making music is my passion. Someday something noteworthy will arise from my humble fingers, but until then, feel free to review anything I have up. If you'd like to use my music, feel free! Shoot me a note about it though; I'd love to see whatever it is.
