First I was like, 'meh', but then I went "O.O"

The drum shroud is well-timed, but becomes distracting farther into the piece. The organ might use some more low-freq. Wow! This was fun to listen to, and I think you did a great job on the melodies and harmonies. A spring break well-spent, indeed.

The awesomeness gets progressively more awesome as the piece gets on, but it's a bit slow getting there.

Ending was too abrupt for me. Instant flaccidity. :\

Souldran responds:

Glad you liked it. ^^

Tried getting some more low-freq into the organ, but it kinda got drowned out and just made the whole piece a bit messy towards the middle... I'll see if I can remaster this thing sometime.

And yeah, looking back, I need to change that ending...

Thanks for the feedback!

Fascinating

Hmm... the harmony with the minor seventh is interesting.

Rather than going from A to A to G in the bass (at about 1:30), try a side stop at G#. Just a thought.

The string sound is, well, terrible. Try DSK Strings or a sample for better results.

What piano sound is that? I really endear it.

SinZLazTWordZ responds:

Not sure... Just a sound my friend sent me.
You can PM me and get my msn or aim and im always happy to share.
Thanks for the advice. Im still working on it so il fix it up a bit.
You don't like the violin? I thought it sounded decent... Was meant to be a violin. xD
Anywayzz il see what i can do with it.

Good job!

Try alternating the bass and chord emphasis with C-D-E (current) and C-D-A (lowered last tone). I think it would add another layer of depth and complexity. Right now the progression is a tad shallow and repetitive.

What synth is the lead? I can't figure out how to reproduce that kind of sound.

Sakari responds:

Vanguard, too lazy to open up FL but it's LD Kraft something

The winner is...

MustyElbow. Totally.

Sounds ok to me.

For the bassline, try using a sequence of the tones of the major scale:
1st, 1st (down octave), 2nd, 3rd
in no particular order, of course.

I think that would suit this piece well.

Endings are always tough. Remember, any hard hit produces ripples. I don't like the snare roll at the end, and the snare in general sounds a bit mismatched to this piece. Hit the crash cymbal on the final beat. Leave a shimmer of some sort, like high pitched synth, or chimes, or noise.

In general, it just feels a bit empty. You need to fill out the midtones with an additional instrument and juice up the drumline a bit. Compressors are your best friend. Use them liberally to increase to forwardness of the sound.

MegaMettaurX responds:

Thanks for the insight. So, for the compressor, I'm only using them on percussion, I haven't tried using anything on instruments, but so far the instruments all have some kind of filter on them. I may try something with the compression.

Awesome Song of Epic Win

Can't wait for the game! Especially since I can listen to this while I play it...

ikashiru responds:

Thanks! That's a real motivation to make sure it actually comes out.. ;) Just have to get the other tracks for it up to standard now too. Will check out your stuff now too.

Whoa

Cimba responds:

Booyah

Get me this stuff in crystalline form so i can snort it. Every day.
Could use stronger beats if you want a battle theme.

Making music is my passion. Someday something noteworthy will arise from my humble fingers, but until then, feel free to review anything I have up. If you'd like to use my music, feel free! Shoot me a note about it though; I'd love to see whatever it is.
